Detailed prior planning is important in potential survival situations. Including survival issues in mission planning will improve your probabilities of survival if an emergency occurs. For example, if your job re-quires that you simply work in a small, enclosed area that limits what you can carry in your particular person, plan where you may put your rucksack or your load-bearing equipment. Put it where it won’t forestall you from getting out of the realm rapidly, yet where it is readily accessible.

One important facet of prior planning is preventive medicine. Nonetheless, if you recognize what these kits include, it’s going to make it easier to to plan and to arrange your own survival kit.

Even the smallest survival equipment, if properly ready, is invaluable when confronted with a survival problem. Before making your survival package, nevertheless, consider your unit’s mission, the operational setting, and the equipment and vehicles assigned to your unit.

The atmosphere is the key to the varieties of gadgets you will have in your survival kits. How a lot tools you set in your equipment depends upon how you will carry the kit. A kit carried on your physique should be smaller than one carried in a vehicle. All the time layer your survival package, maintaining a very powerful items on your body. For example, your map and compass should always be in your body. Carry much less vital gadgets in your load-bearing equipment. Place cumbersome gadgets in the rucksack.

In preparing your survival package, select items you should utilize for multiple purpose. You probably have two gadgets that will serve the same perform, choose the one you can use for an additional function. Do not duplicate gadgets, as this will increase your kit’s dimension and weight.

A collection of fundamental provides which helps in surviving disastrous or life threatening conditions is commonly known as a survival kit.

Question by extremely peachy: What is the differents in a sociology degree and social work degree?
I have a choice between two universities. One University has a sociology program and the other one has a sociology and human services program. I know people major in sociology who wants to go into social work. I am just wondering If a company chooses one over the other one. I am thinking the person with a Human Service degree would get a job before the person with the degree in sociology because it’s more about social work/human services job. Sociology is a broader field. I need advice please.

Best answer:

Answer by blue25tulip
Hey, I’m working on my social work degree. It’s different in the fact that with the social work what you are getting a BSW and you can basically use it anywhere in the human services arena. With a BSW you usually don’t have to declare a minor either, which is really good because you end up doing a TON of volunteering and internships with places like domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters if there are any in the area, etc. If you go for sociology then you get the general stuff and have to deal with declaring a minor as well. Having a a bachelors in sociology isn’t going to guarantee you a job in a social work setting. It’s all up to what you want to do. The BSW virtually guarantees you a better job, but I’m warning you social work is a thankless field. Good luck!

Question by kT: What kind of associates degree for sociology?
I don’t know how to ask this: Is there an associates degree in sociology? If I obtained an associates degree in science, could I then obtain a bachelors in science with a major in sociology? My community college doesn’t offer an associates degree in sociology, only some classes. And then another college a few towns away offers a bachelors degree in sociology. Is it even possible for me to obtain a degree in sociology between those two schools?

Best answer:

Answer by ♥CJ♥
You can pursue an Associates degree in Sociology online. Maybe you get a Associates degree in Liberal Arts which is pretty much the foundation of all sociology majors. You are required to take most of the same courses. Or you can take the Sociology courses that are offered at the community college and transfer to the school that offers the Bachelors. See if the school offering the Bachelors will accept transfer credits.

Question by jme19914fun: Anyone who has studied CULTURE, SOCIOLOGY, or HISTORY: i have an interesting question.?
Do you recall reading about a time when sex was used to gain some sort of social status?
I’m writing a research paper about how much Culture effects Sexual Behavior more than Biology.

Best answer:

Answer by Bob P
We seem to be back to your obsession!

Whilst history is punctuated by individual females, who used their sexuality to attain social advancement and power, it has never been a cultural movement.

The political arrangements for marriage have always been to enhance clan affiliations and alliances. The sexual aspect was, no more, nor less, than a means by which mutually acceptable heirs were produced, to carry on the alliances.

Whilst there were and are a few matriarchal societies, they tend to be very localised, of no real impact on wider political, or social systems. They evolve to maximise limited male breeding stock………… the converse is the Harem system.

There has been a hot debate about neolithic matriarchies. The general concensus, today, accepts that the evidence for such systems is weak, if non-existent. So-called matriarchies of modern history and present cultures actually rely on the good offices of the male relatives and allies of the senior female, so may be more properly called matrifocal communities………… Once again this sort of arrangement has more to do with efficient use of the local gene pool than a political arrangement.

The major historical matriarchal and matrifocal societies of literature are just that: legends!

There has been an apparent attempt by modern feminists and Wiccans to prove the existence of matriarchal civilisations. However, there has been no substantiated evidence of such societies ever existing.

One might find ONE near-matriarchal society in Southern India. However, it has always relied on the prowess of its male members, to stay in existence. Today it has virtually ceased to exist.

There has been a distinct difference between Graeco-Roman and so-called Barbarian cultures in the treatment of women. Whilst both sides considered females as chattels, casual sex outside the marriage was acceptable to the Barbarian Tribes. They formalised this relaxed attitude to what is, after all, a basic biological function, in their seasonal religious festivals.

The Graeco-Romans considered such “transgressions” as reason for war.

The Indo-Chinese civilisations might appear to have been highly sex-orientated. However, the erotic carvings and literature, dating from historic times, are more an expression of male political and religious power over the female, than much else.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Mr. President: Do you think I can take Popular Culture without Intro to Sociology?
I want to take Pop Culture, I love movies.

Best answer:

Answer by Ashley T
You can, as long as Intro isn’t a prerequisite.

However, it would be easier if you familiarize yourself with the primary theories of Sociology prior to taking the class. The primary theories are ‘Structural-Functionalist’, Conflict’ and ‘Symbolic-Interactionist’. You can wiki them. They’re all there but do find a secondary source because wiki isn’t always reliable. =) Once you get those down and understand those perspectives, you should be good to go. Most, at least this was true in my subsequent Sociology classes, will have you look at different issues taking one of those approaches.

Also, there is a lot more to the class than watching films. You will be delving into various theories of culture that are held by different writers/thinkers. Also you’ll have to consider politics and popular culture and how they work together/or against one another. There will be films and novels involved but what you’ll be doing is say, looking at the standards of beauty that have changed over the years and how those changes relate to changing social conditions.

By the way, I have loved all of my Sociology classes so don’t let me scare you off from it. I just thought you should know what all is involved! =)

This is a question for a short essay I have in sociology and I’m just looking for some suggestions. I also have to come up with 2 questions for class discussion relating to socialization. Any help is welcome.

Answer by drdavidcamp
Example responses
Conflict explains that poverty is there to keep people working for the rich and powerful so they can make a profit.
SI is based on the idea that poverty is the result of ones interactions that lead them to not seek riches or have a different view of success

Socialization questions – Why does socialization override genetic drives like anorexia causes self views to carry more weight than the need to eat sufficiently.

Do stages of socialization – such as Kohlberg’s stages of moral development always occur in the same order?
