You can, as long as Intro isn’t a prerequisite.
However, it would be easier if you familiarize yourself with the primary theories of Sociology prior to taking the class. The primary theories are ‘Structural-Functionalist’, Conflict’ and ‘Symbolic-Interactionist’. You can wiki them. They’re all there but do find a secondary source because wiki isn’t always reliable. =) Once you get those down and understand those perspectives, you should be good to go. Most, at least this was true in my subsequent Sociology classes, will have you look at different issues taking one of those approaches.
Also, there is a lot more to the class than watching films. You will be delving into various theories of culture that are held by different writers/thinkers. Also you’ll have to consider politics and popular culture and how they work together/or against one another. There will be films and novels involved but what you’ll be doing is say, looking at the standards of beauty that have changed over the years and how those changes relate to changing social conditions.
By the way, I have loved all of my Sociology classes so don’t let me scare you off from it. I just thought you should know what all is involved! =)
